What to Expect on Your First Visit
Your first visit at FreeForm Physio & Pilates is designed to be simple, supportive, and centred around your goals. In most cases, a doctor’s referral isn’t required to get started. We offer direct billing for many extended health plans.
All New Clients Must Book The 60-Minute Initial Assessment.
This allows your physiotherapist the time needed to complete a thorough history and a detailed objective examination, so we can fully understand your concerns and provide safe, effective, high-quality treatment.
Shorter appointments do not allow enough time for a comprehensive assessment. For this reason, initial assessments cannot be booked in 30 or 45-minute formats.
Here Is What The Process Looks Like From The Moment You Arrive:
1. A conversation that actually matters
Your session begins with a relaxed discussion about your goals, symptoms, history, lifestyle, and the activities you love. We take the time to understand the whole picture so your care is meaningful and personal.
2. A detailed one-on-one assessment
Your physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment that may include examining posture and gait, evaluating range and mobility, testing strength, and reviewing movement patterns. Your assessment takes place in a private treatment room, with plenty of time for questions and discussion.
3. A clear explanation of what is going on
You will learn what may be contributing to your pain or limitation and how your body is responding. We explain everything in plain language so you feel confident and informed.
4. A personalized treatment plan you can trust
Before you leave, you will know exactly what the next steps are. This may include education about your current condition; whether manual therapy or dry needling would be helpful; if clinical Pilates is appropriate for retraining movement patterns; the start of a home exercise program; or ways to modify daily movements or posture to reduce discomfort. All recommendations are tailored to your body, goals, and lifestyle.
5. Immediate start to treatment
When appropriate, your first session may include the start of treatment so you can begin making progress early in your care. For more complex conditions, your physiotherapist may use the full session (or occasionally two) to complete a thorough assessment before beginning hands-on or movement-based treatment.
6. Your home program and support
You will leave with individualized exercises and guidance to support your progress between sessions. Your physiotherapist will check in regularly and adjust your plan as you improve.
